5 Actions for Challenging Tasks : Part III

Action 3 : Think Positive (and yes, you are worth it!)

I have lost count of the number of times that I thought I just wasn’t good enough.

Looking back, I was absolutely capable in every way, but I had been so conditioned to think that I was inadequate that I believed it was true even when it wasn’t.

When you think you cannot do a task or are incapable, then even if you can do it, your mindset has a direct effect on your performance.

You have the skill, the knowledge, the know-how and the abilities.

You are capable, able and worthy.  You can do this!

Here are some pointers to help you

1. Yes. You. Can.

  • You are able to do what you set your mind to
  • You are capable of completing the task that you need to do, to the highest standard
  • Look in the mirror and tell your beautiful self that
  • Now, believe it!

2. Positive Vibes matter

  • I know it’s tough, especially when faced with challenge. But here’s a little secret
  • Maintaining a positive mindset makes it so much easier to work towards your goals
  • You have what it takes
  • Repeat the last 3 steps of point 1 above

3. Uplifting Places & Spaces

  • It’s great to ‘think happy’. But thinking it alone is not always enough
  • You also need to work at consciously surrounding yourself with positivity
  • That means a healthy environment that supports you are your goals
  • Sometimes that might mean taking time out from people and situations that dampen your spirit
  • Choose your happy
  • Which brings us to the next pointer

4. Protect your Peace

  • You have the right to step away from situations that are unhealthy for you
  • You have the right to step away from people who are not good for you
  • Protect your peace

5. Own that confidence

  • You were assigned this task, or given this project, or handed this work
  • Why? Because someone believes that you can do it
  • They have confidence in you and your abilities
  • Now go show ’em just how amazing you are at your job
  • PS: you’ve got this!
